Video Edits

Filming has been one of my main free time interests which developed from wanting to capture trails I had ridden on my pushbike. Unlike photos, you can actually display flow and capture an atmosphere a lot more easily, which has always greatly appealed to me. Having watched many DVD's of varying styles from the sport, I soon managed to work out what I thought worked and

what didn't and started to create my own style of filming. Like with other types of media on the site I have always aimed to be artistic, and in my filming projects allow the viewer to be able to feel the atmosphere that the particular edit was filmed in, be it with the use of sound or camera angles. This is not always possible to be experienced in simple film trailers, so if there is interest I can always arrange a copy of a DVD to sent.
The clips on this page vary from short edits of Mountain Biking events or DVD trailers for full length films I've created.

DVD Trailers

Free Motion (3)

This is the trailer to my most recent private DVD. It was a project that took roughly 18 months in total to complete in spare time, and I picked riders of varying disciplines (of which there are several in Mountain Biking) and recorded them riding along with comments of their personal goals for the riding year.
As the trailer helps to display, the focus on the filming here is artistic and scenic and the DVD's style aims to help the viewer be able to appreciate the environment the shots were filmed in.

By Riders For Racers

This trailer is for the DVD which was filmed after New Motion (above). The nature of this project was somewhat different to what I had worked on before, as its whole purpose was to document a specific venue and race series it held throughout the year. The project came about from a request from the venue owner and series organiser, which meant working alongside someone else's ideas and seeing how best to fit them together. It was a difficult project, trying to keep shots unique and creative, but I am pleased with the end result.
The title may sound a little odd, but was a twist on the name of the series: 'By Riders For Riders'.

Short Edits

Qashqai Urban Challenge

As the name suggests the mini-edit is based on Nissan's 'Qashqai Urban Challenge' series, where professional riders from all over the World compete in pulling off the best tricks in the air. This particular edit was based on the series final, which happened to be in London for the first time in 2008. It was also the first time I obtained media accreditation for an event, allowing me to get some unique angles of the competition.
The edit itself aims to re-create the style of the event; loud, fast paced and on-edge would be fitting words of description.
